Georgia College campus: There’s an app for that.

Download or stream GC Tour to a smartphone for a narrative guide across the campus.

“Our GC Tour app offers prospective students a chance to see and hear about our beautiful campus remotely using smartphones or iPads,” said Suzanne Pittman, assistant vice president for enrollment management.

“Data confirms that once prospective students and their families visit Georgia College, students are more likely to apply for admission and eventually enroll.”

The iPhone and Android device features short narrated videos, photography and quick text facts as a virtual tour of the university.

The Georgia College fight song plays as the GC Tour opens, displaying the university emblem with general information about the university.

Prospective students and their parents get sneak peeks across the main campus, the Centennial Center, downtown Milledgeville, West Campus and the Wellness & Recreation Center — not just from the outside.

Visitors can look inside buildings to learn which buildings house which colleges and programs. And with the Google map, it’s virtually impossible to get lost.

“The map provides directions and distances between building locations,” said admissions counselor Allyson Epps. “You can stand in front of Parks Hall and know how far it is to the Centennial Center.”

The app acts as prospective students’ first view of the campus and as a refresher after their first visit to Georgia College.

“They can access the app at any time to show their friends and parents the campus,” Epps said. “Students also can refer to the app as they navigate the campus during their first days of classes.”

GC Tour is expandable to accommodate additional information about the university.

“We can go into the app and create more information about the university’s special events and new locations on campus,” Epps said. “We can include new tours, new videos, change icons and customize the app to fit the needs of our students and prospective students."

Designed by BarZ Adventures and narrated by Georgia College photographer Tim Vacula, users have the option to download or stream the application.

The GC Tour app is available free of charge through iPhone app store and Android market.
