The award recognizes individuals “who consistently exceed their job responsibilities and are an asset to Georgia College & State University.”

Grant’s selection for the award follows his promotion in February to the post of major with the university’s police force. As part of the award, Grant also received $500.

In presenting the award, GCSU President Dorothy Leland noted that Grant “leads by example and is an invaluable team player.”

President Leland also said Grant's award was unusual because his nomination came from the employees he supervises.

“This is a wonderful testimony to the positive influence he has on the people he works with on a daily basis,” President Leland said. “He is not a boss to be feared or avoided, but someone that is admired for his leaderships, consideration for others and dedication to the university.”

The Staff Excellence Award is presented by Georgia College each spring and fall semester.
