i-Health Program

The College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers an interdisciplinary degree program in health, called i-Health. The i-Health program prepares undergraduate students for a wide range of graduate study in health-related fields, and pre-professional study for a range of biomedical careers.

Societal health trends such as inactivity, obesity, and diabetes create greater demand for understanding health behavior change, wellness promotion, and disability prevention. The i-Health customized, interdisciplinary curriculum encourages students to examine today's complex health issues from perspectives in the social and behavioral sciences within three concentrations:

Concentrations

  • Health and Aging
  • Health Behavior Change
  • Health Diversity

"Ten of the 20 fastest growing occupations are healthcare related. Healthcare will generate 3.2 million new wage and salary jobs between 2008 and 2018, more than any other industry, largely in response to rapid growth in the elderly population."

Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-2011 Edition
