Richard Allen is a Professor of English at the Open University, specialising in literary relations between Britain and India. He has been Visiting Professor at the Universities of Mumbai and Delhi and most recently delivered a paper at the Centenary Conference organised by the Satihya Akademi to honour the work of the novelist Raja Rao. He has a long career at the Open University and was Dean of the Faculty of Arts from 1998.
