Professor Albert Alos
Born in Barcelona, Spain, Albert John Alos studied Electrical Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of Bilbao, Spain. After completing his Doctoral Program in Electrical Engineering, he came to Nigeria in 1967 as a lecturer in the department of Electronics of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). He pioneered the growth of the newly created department by designing academic curricula and establishing engineering laboratories. In 1971 he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Lagos and was appointed Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1983. He then moved to University of Ibadan, where he became Professor and Head of Department of Electrical Engineering. He was responsible for the establishment of this new department within the newly created Faculty of Technology, and developed the department to the level of accreditation by COREN.
He retired from university services in 1992 to become a founding member and the Dean of the Lagos Business School (LBS). His main responsibility was the growth and development of the Lagos Business School, from a modest start in temporary premises to a full-fledged institution of high esteem and reputation for its quality of executive education and its emphasis on business ethics. In 2007 and 2008 Lagos Business School has been ranked among the top 50 business schools in the world by the Financial Times.
