Professor Dr Luciano de Almeida is Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal (since 1989) and Visiting Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Macau (since September 2010). He is visiting professor at Beijing Language and Culture University, Republic of China, and Honorary Advisor of the Macau Polytechnic Institute, China Popular Republic.

Professor Dr Almeida is a member of the Portuguese National Commission on Access to Higher Education, member of the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education in Portugal and President of the General Council of the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal.

Professor Dr Almeida was Professor at the Faculty of Law of University of Lisbon and was a member of the National Evaluation of the National Council of Education, Advisory Council for Higher Education in Portugal, President of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (1999/2009), Portugal. He was also President of the Coordinating Council of the Portuguese Polytechnic Institutes. Professor Dr Almeida has represented the Portuguese Polytechnics in the process of legislative reform of higher education in Portugal and is the author of several publications and scientific papers.
