Former Labour Minister of State Bill Rammell was appointed to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Plymouth University in February 2011. Bill’s portfolio includes overviews of the student experience and internationalisation.

In the course of his 13 years as Labour MP for Harlow, Bill was Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education and Minister of State at the Foreign Office and for the Armed Forces. Prior to that he worked for both the University of London and King’s College London as General Manager of their Students’ Union, was a Regional Officer for the National Union of Students, and Head of Youth Services at Basildon Council.

He graduated with a degree in French from Cardiff University, and went on to become the President of their Students’ Union.
