The Dimbleby Debate
5 December 2008 - 14:15An international education experience has a unique capacity to be a continually open channel for the changing conversations of mankind - a way of building worldwide networks of trust between individuals that offer us potential solutions to the great global challenges that seem to be beyond the capacities of the more traditional approaches to international relations.'
Martin Davidson, Chief Executive, British Council
At a time when communication is easier than ever, it is a global concern that understanding in many places and between many people is too often fragile or entirely absent. What role can international education - alongside the scientists, artists and sportsmen and women of tomorrow - play in encouraging awareness and understanding between different cultures? How can it help the world community to bind itself together with comprehension and avoid fragmenting through alienation? Jonathan Dimbleby will explore these and other questions with a panel who believe that exposure to international ideas and exchange is a force for good.
