About the Program
The interdisciplinary major allows students to develop their own program of study through the selection of an Area of Concentration. The Area of Concentration is a cluster of five courses that the student may choose from among three or more disciplines. The areas of concentrations includes: Culture & Communication, Development, International Public Policy, and International Relations. International Studies majors are also provided with training in cross-cultural mediation which is a valuable skill to prepare students for the challenges they will encounter in their careers.
The International Studies Program also grants the students opportunities to participate in service-learning and internship programs which are facilitated by City College. Moreover, The City College of New York counts with the presences of Diplomat-in-Residence to advice on U.S. State Department internships and entry to the U.S. Foreign Services.
