He was previously Associate Professor of Medicine and Health Policy & Management at Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Carrasquillo is a member of Physicians for a National Health Program, serves on the Advisory Committee on Minority Health and was formerly Vice President and Policy Director of Latinos for National Health Insurance. His areas of research include minority health, health disparities health insurance, and access to care. His research has been published in a variety of journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, and American Journal of Public Health.
Dr. Carrasquillo received his undergraduate degree from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at City College, medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine, and his master's degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
