There are four different graduate program plans. Three of these lead to a Master's Degree and New York State Certification while the fourth program is a non-degree, credentialing process available only to candidates who currently hold both an undergraduate and advanced degree in English or an English related discipline.
Course Requirements for M.A. in English Education with NY State Initial Certification (40 credits)
(Replacing the former Provisional Certification, this course of study is designed for students with little or no background in Education or English Education holding an undergraduate degree in English or an English related discipline.)

(Replacing the former Permanent Certification, this course of study is designed for students with a strong background in Education or English Education and who currently have a license to teach Secondary English.)
