Applying for NYS Initial Certification
The City College School of Education will recommend Early Childhood Education majors for New York State Initial Certification in Early Childhood (Birth – 8) upon completion of ALL of the following:
- All required courses of the Undergraduate Early Childhood Program or their equivalent with a minimum of 2.7
- Passing scores for the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (LAST), Multi-Subject Content Specialty Exam (CST) and the Assessment of Teaching Skills-Written (ATS-W)
- 100 hours of satisfactory fieldwork and 300 hours of satisfactory supervised student teaching
