CWE is an extension campus of City College designed for working adults who are seeking their Bachelor's Degree. Classes are offered in the evenings and on Saturdays and many of the registration procedures are streamlined to fit the lives of working adults. CWE was founded in 1981 by City College in collaboration with public employee unions and has approximately 1,000 students currently in attendance. The Center offers over 170 courses each year, with fourteen full-time staff plus full-time and part-time faculty drawn from the various academic departments of City College and professionals in law, journalism, social services, and the arts. The average class size is about 25 students and our students' average age is 40 years old. The Center has graduated over 1,600 students including four City College valedictorians and one salutatorian.
In-state tuition is $170 a credit hour or $2000 full-time (Tuition may be changed by the Board of Higher Education without notice).
