Academic Services

Advising: DegreeWorks
A web based service where you can track progress towards your degree. Not all majors covered to date but ongoing coverage will encompass all majors in time. 

Advising: Gateway Advising Center
The Center helps  students who are undecided about a  major or  are fulfilling eligibility requirements to qualify for their major of choice.

Blackboard (CUNY Portal)
Blackboard is an on-line course management system where teachers load readings, notes, exams and discussions for students to access.  

Bookstore
The bookstore sells texts  as well as ancillary materials. It also has a buy back policy and a limited-time return policy. Students are expected to purchase texts.

Course Spotlights
This is a feature offered to teachers who wish to highlight courses are  innovative or just on coming on stream or are  interdisciplinary.

Graduation
A must for all family members who waited patiently for this day each  May. Highlights  inlcude commencement speeches, alumni gatherings, and impromptu parties.  

International Student and Scholar Services

Library
A must for all serious students. Extensive print collections (since 1848) and impressive full text digital collections. Libraries for Science & Engineering, Music, Art, Architecture and for Center for Worker Education as well as the main Cohen Library. 

Policy on Academic Integrity
A code of conduct for students (and teachers) to ensure that City College courses have high academic integrity. Plagarism attempts are detected very effectively  

Phone Directory
A directory of employees including adjuncts by name, department, etc. Lists phone and emails but no student email search available.

SEEK Program
SEEK – the Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge Program - is a state-funded, educational opportunity program that provides a range of services to students with a demonstrated need for academic and financial support.  The most important of these are counseling, tutoring, and additional financial aid.

Writing Center
The Writing Center offers one-on-one assistance for students working on writing assignments and projects from across the disciplines.  Consultants will work with you on planning, drafting, and revising -- all of the important steps in your writing process.
