Teaching Interests: Medieval literature studies, Arthurian literature, Chaucer, medieval drama, medieval women, romance (medieval to modern), Greek mythology,and literature and the Bible.

Although women and women’s issues were rarely covered in Dr. Moranski’s graduate training in medieval coursework, she has strived to educate students and the community about medieval women writers (Hildegard of Bingen, Christine de Pizan, Heloise, Julian of Norwich, Margery Kempe, and others) and use feminism and cultural studies to study romances (both canonical and non-canonical) from a variety of periods, including the Middle Ages and the 19th and 20th centuries.

Accomplishments: Karen has given numerous conference papers on medieval prophecy, modern historical fiction, and pedagogy at the International Congress of the Medieval Institute, the Conference of the Medieval Association of the Midwest, the Mid-America Medieval Association Conference, the Midwest Modern Language Association Conference, and the Illinois Philological Association Conference. Her book-length projects include Prophet Margins and The Whole Prophesie of Scotland. She has also presented on the Capital Scholars Program and assessment at the Association for Integrative Studies Conference, the National Collegiate Honors Council, and Illinois Board of Higher Education workshops.
