The “Foot in the Door” Career Fair has transitioned from a part-time job fair to a major career fair. More than 100 recruiters will be at the career fair Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. Students will be able to connect with employers about full-time positions, part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities. Alumni are also welcome.

Moms and dads and grandmas and siblings will be heading to the UIS campus October 4-6 for Family Weekend, one of the activities of Student Life. On their first day of practice, the UIS women’s soccer team also did their first community service project. Such activities are among the pillars of the NCAA Division II university. UIS students launched the new school year by volunteering at the American Red Cross local chapter, Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County, Hospital Sister’s Mission Outreach, and the St. John’s Breadline. A proposed $20 million student union at UIS, scheduled for opening in 2016, has created a positive buzz on campus and in the community.
