177 Women’s soccer players start with community service

On their first day of practice, the UIS women’s soccer team also did their first community service project. Such activities are among the pillars of the NCAA Division II university. 176 Reorganization of school districts studied by UIS professor

172 Students all over the city for 2013 Service-a-Thon

UIS students launched the new school year by volunteering at the American Red Cross local chapter, Habitat for Humanity of Sangamon County, Hospital Sister’s Mission Outreach, and the St. John’s Breadline. UIS hosted its annual Welcome Week Involvement Expo in an effort to get students active. The expo featured more than 140 student organizations, clubs, community groups, and businesses.

158 Illinois Principals Assn. recognizes UIS’s Scott Day

The Illinois Principals Association honored Dr. Scott Day, associate professor and chair of the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Illinois Springfield, with the Abe Lincoln Region Herman Graves Award. It is the highest honor bestowed by the association.
