Meet the Department of Residence Life Staff

Resident Assistants (RA’s) are paraprofessional employees of the Department of Residence Life. They undergo a training program to enable them to effectively assist all residents in adapting to life at UIS. A team of RA’s reside in each area. RA’s are supervised by the Resident Directors.
Resident Directors (RD’s) are professional full-time employees of the Department of Residence Life. The RD’s are responsible for the supervision, training and development of the Resident Assistants. The RD’s also manage and maintain the administrative functions of their respective areas, East Apartments, West Townhouses, Lincoln Residence Hall and Founders’ Residence Hall.

Housing Administrator III
Michelle R. Vinson, Housing Administrator III, is responsible for the daily operations of the Central Office of Department of Residence Life. She has oversight of the housing assignment processes for all residential students. In addition, she manages, monitors, and implements the policies and procedures of student housing.

Assistant Director of Residence Life & Education
Daniel Schraeder, Assistant Director of Residence Life and Education, is responsible for the day-to-day administration, management and live-in staff supervision within Department of Residence Life. In addition, he manages, monitors, and implements the policies and programs which support and augment the mission-critical academic focus of Residence Life.

Assistant Director of Residence Life – Facilities and Operations
Ryan Hofman, Assistant Director of Residence Life – Facilities and Operations, is responsible for the comprehensive day-to-day management, coordination and supervision of all residential facilities-related portfolio, staff and business operational functions within campus residential areas of the Department of Residence Life. In addition, he/she enhances education, social and community building program events for residents’ living environments of Residence Life.

John Ringle, Director of Residence Life, is responsible for the management, supervision, and operation of Residence Life including the operations of the Housing Office, housing services, and maintenance functions. He is responsible for monitoring and implementing the policies and procedures of housing as well.
