Minor in Teacher Education
Students who plan to major in psychology and minor in elementary education should select the educational psychology concentration within the psychology major.
Please note that you must formally apply to, and be accepted by, the UIS Teacher Education Program in order to earn a minor in elementary education.
Psychology courses PSY 327 Educational Psychology, PSY 322 Child Development, and PSY 323 Adolescence fulfill prerequisites for admission to the teacher education program at UIS, and PSY 324 Exceptional Child is a required course for a minor in either elementary or secondary education. Please refer to the Teacher Education curriculum for information about which courses are needed for Elementary Certification and which courses are needed for Secondary Certification.
