Students in the News

Riley Kerestes has been awarded a $12,000 fellowship for the 2014-15 academic year by the FMC Technologies, Inc. Educational Fund at the University of Illinois. Riley Kerestes--resized--for web Fellowships are given to outstanding graduate students in Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.  The fund was established in 1963 by a donation of 15,000 shares of stock in the Link-Belt Company (later acquired by the FMC Corporation, now FMC Technologies, Inc.) to the University of Illinois Foundation by Bert A. Gayman, an alumnus of the University of Illinois.

At UIS, students are nominated for the fellowship by MBA faculty.  This is what instructor Bruce Sommer wrote about Riley.  “While Riley’s academic performance is exceptional, my recommendation is driven more by his abilities and actions with his peers and outside of the classroom.  He is always the one who leads group projects and group events outside of class.  Riley is an exceptional individual.  It is quite clear he is inherently interested in learning and helping others learn.  It is truly a treat for me to have him in the classroom.  Working with people like Riley is why I find teaching so rewarding.”

Riley works for Caterpillar Inc. as an engineer and is a student in the UIS Peoria MBA Cohort.
