Photo of student Sean Miller. Sean is a graduate of the Political Science and Legal Studies programs at UIS. Sean started volunteering with the Project after taking Director Larry Golden’s “Conviction of the Innocent” class in Fall 2011.
Prior to starting at the Project, Sean interned for a private law firm that specialized in civil law. He enjoyed the experience of actually working in the legal field and sought some outlet to continue a hands-on approach to law. Volunteering for the IIP allowed Sean the ability to work with actual cases and explore the areas of criminal law and appellate advocacy.
Sean used his experience at IIP to help him apply for law school. After law school Sean hopes to work in criminal law or as an appellate attorney. He is confident that he will put his experiences to good use by decreasing the number of wrongful convictions, once he becomes a practicing attorney.
