The history curriculum includes period courses covering America from the colonial era to the present, a rich array of courses in European (ancient and modern), Middle Eastern and Asian history, and thematic courses in such areas as religious history, political history, imperialism, warfare, sports, and women’s history.
History students discuss important issues in humanity's legacy. UIS undergraduate students can select from a wide selection of face-to-face courses which meet one or two times weekly. Many History majors also elect to complete some of their coursework online, although priority registration in online courses is given to students in the online History B.A. program. Undergraduates who live more than fifty miles from the UIS campus are eligible to apply to be admitted into the online History B.A. program.
