Global Studies

The bachelor of arts in Global Studies seeks to provide students with multiple perspectives for understanding the world and the tools necessary to appreciate how other peoples see the world and the issues confronting the global community.

Invest In UIS

This degree will use an interdisciplinary approach emphasizing political science, history, economics, sociology / anthropology, communication and environmental studies.

What’s New

  • The Global Studies program has created the Global Studies Advisory Council, made up of key faculty who teach in the program.  The members of the Council are: Hilary Anne Frost (Chair), Kristi Barnwell (history), Adriana Crocker (political science), Sibel Oktay Karagul (political science/global studies), Amie Kincaid (communication), and Jennifer Manthei (sociology/anthropology).  The purpose of this Council is to advise on curriculum development and program assessment.
  • This spring 2015 there are many opportunities to hear a variety of speakers or films on a range of current global issues.  These include the UIS Speakers Series, the World Affairs Council of Central Illinois, and the Foreign and Independent Film Series. To be added to an email list to receive occasional announcements of these events, please email Dr. Frost.
