Moy Fund Inaugural Grants Awarded

In December 2012, Dr. Richard Moy created a very special fund in memory of his wife, Caryl Towsley Moy, a much-loved former UIS professor. The Caryl Towsley Moy, Ph.D., Endowed Fund for Collaborative Research provides funds for research opportunities for UIS faculty in collaboration with faculty at SIU School of Medicine.

In April 2014, four faculty members from the University of Illinois Springfield and the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine received inaugural awards:

  • Karen Reinke, Ph.D., UIS associate professor of psychology and Jeffrey I. Bennett, M.D., SIU assistant professor of clinical psychiatry
  • Wiley Jenkins, Ph.D., SIU associate professor and science director for the Population Science Program, and Dennis Ruez, Jr., Ph.D., UIS associate professor of environmental studies

Read about these professors’ collaborative research projects in this UIS news article.

Dr. Moy, former dean of the SIU School of Medicine, passed away just a few weeks after celebrating the creation of the fund with friends, including Chancellor Koch, but our memory of Dr. Moy lives on through this fund.
