Grant Seeking

UIS Grants, Contracts and Research Administration

The Grants and Contracts Office (PAC 515, 6-7409) works closely with the Office of Development and grant-seekers at UIS to make sure the proper approvals are achieved for grant application submissions  ( access to important clearance forms and information).

Rebecca Jones (6-7849) is the Assistant Director of Grants and Contracts and is currently serving as the Interim pre-award contact.

UIS Office of Development

When seeking private grants from corporations or foundations, or gifts from corporations, the Office of Development (PAC 591, 6-6058) will assist you in the process ( for more information). T

Sarah Jennings, CFRE has 13 years of experience in corporate and foundation relations and grant development. Sarah previously worked for a seven-state regional health association and oversaw grant development (government and private) that secured $6M-$12M annually. Sarah has a master’s degree and graduate certificate from UIS.

Marilyn Kok, Associate Director of Development for Grants, Marketing and Communications, assists with proposal development and submissions.  Marilyn has a master’s degree in composition and rhetoric from Texas A&M.

The Office of Development and the Grants and Contracts Office can help guide you in developing a fundable program that speaks directly to particular corporate and/or foundation guidelines. This step is a crucial step in achieving award.

Central Illinois Nonprofit Resource Center

CINRC (BRK140, 6-6633) is a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center and is located in Brookens Library. Free instructional workshops are offered regularly covering the use and interpretation of the CINRC databases and other materials.

Pamela Salela, MA, MS, is Associate Professor of Library Instructional Services Program and the CINRC Coordinator.

UIS offers information about Grants Accounting Policy (6-7849), including a Grants Accounting Policy Manual and related forms.

Rebecca Jones is your contact for grants accounting questions and needs. Maintaining accurate record of your grant expenditures is important for managing your grant activities and filing financial reports with your funding partner/s.

UIS Office of Development

The Office of Development maintains relationships with our corporate and foundation partners. Keeping in contact with the development office throughout the grant agreement cycle is important for planning next steps, making visits, filing grant reports, and continual cultivation of these relationships.
