Capital Scholars Operating FundThe Capital Scholars Honors Program offers well-prepared and motivated students an opportunity to develop creative thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills through education based in the liberal arts. Your gift could help bring excellent speakers to the program, pay for service-based experiences, enrich the program with arts experiences, or more.
Carrol C. Hall FundSupport for a lectures series on capitalism.
Chancellor’s Unrestricted Fund
Chancellor’s Fund for Excellence
Three unrestricted funds available to the Chancellor to meet needs and take advantage of opportunities that come to UIS.
ECCE Speaker Series Fund
ECCE, which stands for Engaged Citizenship Common Experience, represents a distinctive Speaker Series Course that all UIS undergraduates must take before graduating. The series features a diversity of topics, all chosen to give students a wider perspective on life. We believe the program helps students become more mature in their understanding of life so that they can more effectively make a positive difference in the world. Your gifts will support expenses for this unique program, such as speakers’ travel costs and honoraria, publicity, or other expenses.
Faculty Research and DevelopmentThis fund allows faculty to attend conferences both for their own continuing education and so they can present results of their academic and scientific research.
Graduate Student Recognition FundGifts to this fund are used to strengthen graduate education at UIS through support of activities such as award programs for outstanding research conducted by graduate students, research support grants made to graduate students, and promotion of graduate student involvement in the life of campus.
Julia Henderson Award FundDr. Henderson, who distinguished herself through her academic success and public service, including many years working at the United Nations, created this fund to support fellowships, forums to encourage intelligent discourse in support of controversial but important ideas, and concern for methods to improve the analysis and delivery of vital governmental services. Most recently, the fund has supported UIS’ Earth Day celebration in April, 2010.
Information Technology Services FundThis fund provides unrestricted support for the Department of Computing Services with provides Information Technology Services (and everyone at UIS who uses computers on campus has reason to be grateful for their services!).
Oakley Online Teaching Award FundThe Burks Oakley II Distinguished Online Teaching Award recognizes UIS faculty members whose performance exemplifies the institution’s commitment to excellence in online teaching.
Pearson Faculty Awards FundThis fund gives us a way to recognize excellence in teaching at UIS. Our faculty—their commitment to their students and their academic fields—is one of the strongest advantages that we offer students. Help us celebrate this excellence by adding to this fund.
Undergraduate Student Research FundFaculty-student collaboration is a core strength of UIS, a powerful impetus for learning and development. Your gifts to the Undergraduate Research Support Program will help to provide funds for research, travel to professional conferences for presenting results, and support for UIS’ Student Arts and Research Symposium (StARS), which occurs in the spring.
