Congratulations to Donna Sollenberger for receiving the 2005 Alumni Achievement Award!
Donna Sollenberger The University of Illinois Alumni Association bestows the Alumni Achievement Award to graduates of the campus as either Sangamon State University or University of Illinois at Springfield.
Donna Sollenberger was chosen as the 2005 recipient based on her leadership in health care administration.
Sollenberger earned the Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in English in 1971 and 1974 respectively. She currently serves as president and chief executive officer of the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, which is ranked among the finest academic medical centers in the United States.
National Museum of the Marine Corps
October 2006: The newly-created National Museum of the Marine Corps has selected History alumna Lin Ezell to serve as its first Director. The museum, which opens in November 2006 in Quantico, Virginia, is the first of its kind for any branch of the military. Its mission is to offer the public a glimpse into the rich history of the United States Marine Corps.
Ezell, although not a Marine herself, has over 30 years of experience in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
Congratulations to Ken Davis, “Technician of the Year” Award Recipient!
October 2006: The Illinois Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Communications Officialshas named Ken Davis for its honorary title of Technician of the Year. A systems and security analyst with the Sangamon County Emergency Telephone System Department, Davis has received the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and is currently working on a graduate degree.
Chris Britt Presents Exhibition at UIS Visual Arts Gallery
April 2006: Chris Britt, whose editorial cartoons appear in publications locally and across the country, presents an exhibition of abstract Diptic is a painting featured in Chris Britt's 2006 exhibition. paintings at the UIS Visual Arts Gallery. The exhibition, titled “Color Me Skeptic: New Works By Chris Britt”, feature brightly-colored works designed to inspire a wide range of emotions.
Britt is a 2003 graduate of the UIS Visual Arts Program.
Linda Murphy: Bringing Mind-Body Medicine to the Midwest
Linda Murphy In October 2005, St. John’s Hospital in Springfield became one of only 15% of hospitals in the U.S. to offer complimentary mind-body approaches to medicine for patients and the general public through the new Center for Living. Offering a variety of services from yoga and meditation to fitness and a healing garden, the Center is one-of-a-kind in the Midwest and provides a wholistic approach to health care.
Linda Murphy (formerly Boston) currently serves as the Center’s Director and is a registered respiratory therapist, nationally registered yoga teacher and biofeedback practitioner. She has also completed Harvard Medical School’s Mind-Body Medicine program and the National Institute of Behavioral Medicine’s certification program in Mind-Body Medicine.
Murphy completed the Master of Arts in Communication at UIS.

Stephanie Wise I am currently employed in Olympus America’s microscopy division in St. Louis. My degree in Biology has been extremely helpful on the job as I work with microscopes on an everyday basis. I really enjoyed going to school at UIS and I’d love to hear from any classmates who might remember me!
