Who can use UIS CareerConnect?

UIS CareerConnect is available to students, alumni clients, employers who wish to post jobs, and UIS faculty and staff.

How Do I Access UIS CareerConnect

Click on the button below to access UIS CareerConnect for students. You’ll find the same button on our homepage.

How Do I Get a UIS CareerConnect account?

Guess what? You don’t even need to request an account!

Students automatically receive accounts for UIS CareerConnect during the semesters they are enrolled in courses. Accounts are created automatically by the dates listed below.

Summer 2012: May 16
Fall 2012: July 1
Spring 2013: January 1

If you have completed and filed a Request to Withold Directory Information form with the UIS Registrar’s office, your account cannot be created automatically. Please contact the UIS Career Development Center at (217) 206-6508 or via email: careerservices@uis.edu to have an account created for you.

What is my username?

If you are a student, your username is your netID. This is your email address without @uis.edu. (Example: jsmit2@uis.edu = jsmit2)

What is my password?

If you have never logged in before, click on the Need Password link on the UIS CareerConnect login page. Enter your username (see above) and your password will be randomly generated and sent to your UIS email address. You can use this link anytime you forget your password. Please allow up to 5 minutes for your password to be sent.

When do I get access to UIS CareerConnect?

Students get access to UIS CareerConnect during the semesters they are actively enrolled in classes at UIS. Access dates are belowFirst Day of Access for New Students

What is a resume book?

Resume books are collections of resumes that are searchable by our pre-screened employers. If an employer thinks your resume matches a job they have, they may contact you.

  • Employers can only view your resume if you opt-in to the resume book option.
  • You can opt-in or opt-out at any time. Just visit your privacy tab to change your preference.
  • To keep your resume available, login to UIS CareerConnect at least once every 2 months.
  • Keep your resume updated.

Why do resumes need to be approved?

Your career development center wants to help you make sure that you give employers a great first impression of yourself. So, we check each resume that students submit for a basic set of criteria.

My resume was rejected. Now what?

Check your email. Our career counselors will email you to explain the changes you need to make. Remember, all resumes are checked to make sure that they meet a basic set of criteria.

  • Read the email
  • Make the suggested changes
  • Upload your resume again.

How long does it take for a resume to be approved?

Our counselors make every effort to approve your resumes quickly. However, please give us some time to make sure that you’re leaving employers with a great first impression. Generally, we ask for one business day (Monday – Friday) to check your resume and approve it or give you feedback on it. During really busy times of year, we might need a little extra time.

How to Upload Documents to UIS CareerConnect:

  1. Once logged in to UIS CareerConnect, click the “My Documents/Resources” tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Click the “Add New” button, near the bottom left corner of the screen.
  3. Name your document in the “Label” field, choose your document type, click the “Browse” button to select the file to upload (files must be in .pdf, .doc, or .rtf format), and then click the “Submi” button.
  4. Your document will then move to the “Pending Documents” area where it will be converted to a PDF. The Career Development Center will then approve your document and you will either receive an e-mail indicating approval or one with suggestions in order to be approved.
  5. Once approved, your document will be visible in the “Documents” tab at the top of your main menu.
