Cape Award

Emily Boles was named the recipient of the ninth annual Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence Award at the University of Illinois Springfield on Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 2013, during a celebration in the Public Affairs Center Restaurant.

The Chancellor’s Academic Professional Excellence (CAPE) Award honors all Academic Professionals at UIS by recognizing one outstanding AP each year.

Any academic professional whose appointment is at least 50%, who has been employed by the university for at least three years, and who does not have a tenured or tenure-track appointment, is eligible to be nominated. Any member of the UIS community may nominate an AP for this award.

The CAPE Award was jointly established by the Chancellor and the Academic Professional Advisory Committee in the spring of 2004. All academic professionals are eligible to receive the CAPE Award. The AP nominees are judged on three criteria: work projects, professional development and affiliations, and contributions to one’s unit.

Nominations for the CAPE award are reviewed by a campus committee, and candidates’ names are forwarded to the chancellor, who makes the final selection. The winner receives $500 in cash for personal use, and another $500 is given to the recipient’s department.
