Diversity Task Force – Statement and Charge
Multicultural Diversity refers to an interrelational environment in which persons of various races, physical conditions, religions, national origins, citizenship, genders, ages, socio- economic backgrounds, and sexual orientation are understood, appreciated, supported and celebrated within an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect in regard to the human characteristics involved.
The development and maintenance of Multicultural Diversity require open and aggressive encouragement of fundamental system changes, compensatory resource allocations, specialized and focused educational activities and the establishment of operational priorities in relation to historical and traditional resistance to diversity and the need for cross-sectional institutional changes.
The Diversity Task Force shall encourage, enhance, and facilitate communication, education and relations among persons of various races, physical conditions, religions, national origins, citizenship, genders, ages, socio-economic backgrounds, and sexual orientation at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
In addition, the Diversity Task Force shall foster the development and maintenance of Multicultural Diversity on the UIS campus in its systems, resource allocations, educational activities, and operations.
