UIS Feature: Visual Storytelling

Ann Strahle, assistant professor of communication who specializes in mass media and broadcast journalism, helps students with a video camera during her Visual Storytelling and Reporting course. In 2015, Professor Strahle will be the China Faculty Exchange Fellow; she will represent UIS at Heilongjiang University in Harbin.

UIS Feature: Lincoln's Funeral

A glass negative from the Brady-Handy Collection of the Library of Congress shows President Abraham Lincoln’s funeral procession on Pennsylvania Avenue. “Lincoln’s Funeral” is the theme for the 2014 Lincoln Legacy Lecture Series, with speakers providing insight into his death and funeral. The event takes place October 16 at 7:00 pm in Brookens library.

UIS Feature: Spirit Wear

Students don the UIS hats they made during a Make Your Own Spirit Gear workshop, part of homecoming week festivities. The weekend includes Prairie Stars soccer and volleyball games, a BBQ, a UIS Athletics Hall of Fame Induction, and a homecoming dance.

Gela-Kate Meeks

Gella-Kate Meeks has made the University of Illinois Springfield her home. The criminal justice major came to campus wanting to make an impact. She is now the secretary of the Legacy Dance Team, co-vice president of the campus performance arts group Creative Flow, and talent coordinator for the Student Activities Committee (SAC).
