english exams for children

Cambridge English: Young Learners (YLE) Tests

The Cambridge English: Young Learners Tests are specially designed to assess the English of primary learners between the ages of 7 and 12.

The tests are taken by over 310,000 children in over 55 countries every year and provide a gentle introduction to public exams. Research shows that children find the tests highly motivating. Each level of the test has three components – Reading/Writing, Listening and Speaking – and all candidates receive an award showing the level they have achieved in each component.

LEVELS

There are three levels: Starters, Movers, Flyers.

STARTERS MOVERS FLYERS

For children from the age of seven, after about 100 hours of English language learning.

A typical candidate is aged nine to twelve and has completed 250 hours of English language learning. Flyers is equivalent to the level of the Cambridge Key English Test (KET).
