The Student E-mail Helpline answers inquiries from students, prospective students, and others, concerning academic and admissions procedures, college regulations, general program and course requirements, where to receive particular services or help, etc.. The Wellness and Counseling Center promotes wellness and health through education and preventive health care.  Service areas include wellness programs, women’s health, general health care; including flu vaccine, psychological counseling, individual crisis intervention and direct referrals to community mental health providers.  The Wellness and Counseling Center provides trainings on test anxiety, time management and depression.  Nursing and medical providers are available to grant clearance for the use of college recreational facilities.

The Wellness and Counseling Center assures compliance with New York State Public Health Laws 2165 and 2167 by obtaining proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and for meningococcal meningitis.  The Wellness and Counseling Center offers free (MMR) vaccinations.

The Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) is dedicated to providing equal access to the college curriculum and supports the success of City College students with disabilities.  Students enrolled at CCNY who have any kind of disability (i.e. physical, learning, emotional or medical) are encouraged to register with SDS as early as possible to insure that all services can be extended in a timely manner. To receive services, students must provide appropriate documentation of a disability from a qualified health provider or agency. SDS works with students to provide appropriate accommodations, adjustments, and support services, including academic skills workshops, tutoring, support groups, class work facilitation, and assistive technology services.

Early planning is essential for many of the resources, accommodations, and adjustments provided.  Contact us at the earliest possible date so we can provide the appropriate assistance. 

As stated in the policy of the CUNY Board of Trustees, smoking is prohibited in all City College buildings.

The Office of Student Services provides programmatic and informational support to help students further their academic and personal growth goals.  This office serves as a clearinghouse for the Division of Student Affairs where students are given help or guidance with different types of problems, i.e., how to navigate the College bureaucracy to resolve an academic or personal problem; where to get counseling within and outside the institution; how to locate the College’s programs and resources that deal with a broad range of students’ financial and social concerns; and similar issues that students may encounter.  Hence the goal is to provide clear and accessible information to allow students to feel empowered in their interactions with the institution.

OSS administers the Student Off-Campus Housing Referral Service.

Students in need of housing must complete a Student Housing Application for appropriate referrals to housing providers.  Referrals to off-campus housing providers do not constitute an endorsement or guarantee by the College of any housing offers.  All contractual arrangements are the sole responsibility of the students and the housing provider.

To provide information in a timely fashion to current and prospective students, the Student E-mail Helpline, under the supervision of OSS and staffed solely by students, is available to receive e-mail queries at any time, seven days a week.  The student staff responds to inquiries in that order they are received Monday through Friday.  They may answer questions regarding academic and admissions procedures, college regulations, general program and course requirements, class schedules, curricula, etc.  Those inquiries requiring responses from College officials, are forwarded to appropriate faculty, staff, or administrators. The Student E-mail Helpline address is support@ccny.cuny.edu .  Access is also available through the College’s website www.ccny.cuny.edu – and by clicking on the “Student Helpline” box.

The Campus Ministry unit is housed in OSS.  Students in need of spiritual guidance, counseling, or who wish to engage in discussions related to spiritual development, may come to the office for referrals.  Campus Ministry is located in NA 1/210, (212) 650-5866.

Short-term loans for personal emergencies, books, carfare, and supplies, are available in OSS.  If qualified, a student may receive a loan of up to $350, once a semester.  Richter Tuition Loans of up to $500 are available to help qualified students complete tuition payment.  The maximum loan amount is $500.  All loans must be repaid within the same semester they are given.

Free Shuttle-Bus Service

The College offers free shuttle service between the campus and the IND subway stop at 145th St. and St Nicholas Ave., and the IRT subway stop at 137th St. and Broadway (called the Mass Transit Loop). Also, a shuttle service runs from the Towers to 125th St and St Nicholas Ave. subway station, then through the campus along Convent Ave and then back to the Towers (called the Campus Loop).  At the College, the bus stops along Convent Avenue. Both Loops run every 15 Minutes.

Veteran's Affairs

Veterans’ benefits are processed through the Office of the Registrar (A-102). Veterans are encouraged to apply early for educational stipends. While the monthly stipends are not directly related to tuition, in certain emergency situations part of your tuition balance may be deferred on an individual basis. PLEASE NOTE: There is no ROTC on campus.

Emergencies/Public Safety and Security

The office is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as is the security station in the NA lobby.

Suspicious persons or situations or any emergency situation should be reported to the Public Safety and Security Department Hotline at (212) 650-7777.  The office may also be contacted at (212) 650-6911 for non-emergency matters.  Emergency call boxes are located throughout the campus and in most elevators.  In case of fire or a chemical spill, students should immediately exit the building and seek fresh air, then contact the Publish Safety Department by dialing 7777 or using an Emergency Call Box.

Unscheduled Campus Closings

The College coordinates unscheduled closings for weather or other emergencies with The City University of New York. As soon as a decision is made to close the College it will be posted on the College’s website, communicated to the local television and radio news stations, such as NY1, 1010 WINS, WCBS, etc. Members of the college community are advised to check the website, call (212) 650-7000 or listen to these stations in the event of extreme weather or other emergencies.

On-Campus Parking

During the summer session, the on-campus parking fee is $45.  On-campus parking is available only with a paid registration bill.  You can pay for parking in the Security Office with a check or money order.  When you pay your tuition, you may also pay the parking fee at the Bursar’s Office.  Then present the Bursar’s receipt for parking to the Office of Security, NA 4/201, to obtain you parking permit.  Feel free to call the parking division at (212) 650-7183 or (212) 650-7996 if you have any questions about parking on-campus.  Additional parking information can be found at http://www1.ccny.cuny.edu/current/security/parking.cfm

Smoking

As stated in the policy of the CUNY Board of Trustees, smoking is prohibited in all City College buildings.

CUNY Policy on Sexual Harassment

It is the policy of The City University of New York and City College to recruit, employ, retain, promote and provide benefits to employees and to admit and provide services for students without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, legally registered domestic partnership status, disability, predisposing genetic characteristics, alienage, citizenship, military or veteran status or status as a victim of domestic violence.

Sexual Harassment is against the law and is not tolerated at The City College.  The college has responsibility for investigating complains of sexual harassment brought by students or employees on campus or at field placement assignments outside of the college’s premises.  Student or employee complaints should be directed to the Sexual Harassment Awareness and Intake Committee located in A-200, (212) 650-7331.  All materials concerning Sexual Harassment are available in this office and messages can be left there for committee members.

Child Development Center

The Center provides child care and early education to the children of the students of The City College. It is also a fieldwork and work-study site for students of the College.
