Apartment Locations and Descriptions
Graduate and Family Housing features almost 1000 apartments in five "villages."
Each village features a combination of room types and styles and is located in various areas of campus.
Rent for all apartments include water, local phone service, and basic cable service. Trash/recycling service is also included although residents must take their own trash/recycling to provide receptacles. Residents do not need to "contract" with any other agencies for these services.
Electricity is not included in the rental rate, but it IS an "already-provided" service. Residents do not need to contract separately for electricity service. Residents are billed for the electricity service monthly in addition to their rent.
Gas service (for cooking and heating only) ... is used only in Corry Village. This service does require a sign-up fee and also has a monthly bill and it is NOT billed by our department. Additional information about this topic is provided to all residents who accept offers in Corry Village. Because gas service is billed separately, the average resident in Corry Village can receive lower electricity bills since no electricity is being used for heating and cooking.
Internet service varies by village as followed.
Maguire and UVS – Wireless service is provided and is included in the rental rate.
Diamond and Corry Village – Wired service is provided and is included in the rental rate.
Tanglewood – No internet service is provided. Residents must contract for this on their own with another provider. Most residents use Cox Cable for this, but some use the local phone company via a DSL line.
Tanglewood Additional Information
One of the five villages, Tanglewood, is located, on southwest 13th street approximately one mile south of the main campus. Even in this location, Tanglewood is a University of Florida housing area and is considered "on-campus." This means that all UF policies apply to Tanglewood and that it is patrolled by sworn officers of the University of Florida Police Department as are other buildings and areas on the main campus.
Additionally, Tanglewood features video surveillance of various outdoor areas and an off-duty Florida Highway Patrol Officer lives on-site with a marked vehicle.
Residents of Tanglewood ARE NOT required to purchase a UF parking decal.
Additionally, they are likely to be the first village area where we allow some residents to have roommates.
