Heartland ESL students and teachers are always up to something fun. From field trips to holiday parties to movie nights, the ESL Program knows how to have a good time!

ESL Potluck

Each year in May, Heartland’s ESL Program hosts a Potluck dinner for students, staff and their families. Students prepare food from their native countries to share with classmates and teachers. The ESL Potluck is the year-end celebration to recognize the hard work of ESL students and teachers!

International Culture Night

Each summer, ESL students present an International Culture Night highlighting different aspects of their native cultures. International Culture Night is a free event open to the public that fosters communication among community members from different backgrounds.

  • Students interview classmates and prepare informational posters about their native countries.

  • International Culture Night includes Children’s Story Corner with stories from around the world.

  • Arts and crafts are a part of the fun!

  • Some student choose to wear the traditional costumes of their native countries.
