Testing Center
Guidelines for Instructors 478-6217
Direct extension 372
The Testing Center is located in the Student Center Building operating as a function of the ACCESS Center. Contact Judy Nye (ext. 452) if you have questions about Testing Center services.
The Testing Center (TC) is responsible for standardized testing programs such as:
COMPASS, ACT Challenge, Dual Enrollment Testing, GED, HESI A-2, Specific Certification Exams, Graduation Exit Exam, ACT Work Keys, etc…. as well as assisting our faculty.
Instructors will submit a Test Administration Form (available on the Faculty Resources Link) with each test to be administered. We assist instructors with course-related tests including: individual lecture make-up exams missed in class (no entire classroom testing), video and WWW course testing, re-take testing, RODP proctoring, independent study course exams, and special needs testing.
We also proctor correspondence exams. The CSCC TC will test for other TBR schools in addition to distance learning programs and universities across the United States.
A schedule of testing hours is available on Cougarnet and in the TC. Walk-in testing for course-related testing is available 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and Thursday; 8:00 to 4:30 on Wednesday; 8:00 to 3:00 on Friday. Monday is reserved for standardized group testing. The TC does not maintain its regular hours when classes are not in session (i.e. between semesters, spring break, closings due to weather, etc.). Students must make an appointment if they want to test when classes are not in session.
The TC guidelines for students are included on the schedule of hours. Please be familiar with the guidelines so you can inform your students. Students will need to ask for the correct test and know the name of the instructor. Also, each student must present a photo ID before a test will be administered. Video and WWW class instructors should go over the TC hours and guidelines during the orientation or include a copy in the class orientation packet. Video cameras are in use to help monitor the testing center.
Three Easy Steps for using the TC for Course-related Testing
- Put your name, course title, and exam name (i.e. Test 1, Chapter 2, Final exam, etc.) at the top of each of your tests.
- Complete all information on a "Test Administration Form" and attach it to the exams.
- Bring the test to the Testing Center. Be sure to bring enough tests for the number of students you expect to test if they are to write on the test. If they do not write on the test we will still need several copies of your test for students who show up at the same time for your test. Pick up the test when completed or at the end of the available test period. If you send a student worker to pick up completed exams please call the testing center first, then let the student know we will ask for a photo ID.
Failure to follow these steps may result in the student not being able to test or a student taking the wrong test.
Off-Campus Testing
Instructors are responsible for contacting and forwarding exams to the off-campus site in Athens: (423) 745-8486. A completed "Test Administration Form" is needed with each exam. Testing off-campus is conducted by appointment only. Athens testing procedures operates under the direction and supervision of the off-site director.
