Duties:
- Installation of stonework, drainage, water features, garden structures, and plantings;
- Care for sophisticated gardens featuring a wide variety of plants--from perennials and bulbs to lawns and ground covers to shrubs, trees and vines.

Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in horticulture or landscape design or equivalent experience;
- Prior positive experience with general landscape equipment and maintenance practices is helpful but not necessary;
- Must have knowledge of and ability to carry out fertilization and pest control and annual and perennial flowers, and ornamental shrubs and trees;
- Must be self-motivated, hands-on, and posses the ability to direct seasonal labor;
- Must have a valid drivers license and pesticide license;
- Must have ability to coordinate and implement landscape design plans;
- Should have a clean MVR.

Duties:
- Overseeing and providing care and maintenance of College’s landscaping and grounds;
- Supervise assigned members of the landscape staff in the maintenance of the campus grounds and athletic fields. This work includes but, not limited to: mowing of all turf areas, pruning and removal of trees and shrubs, installation and care of annual beds, and minor irrigation;
- Direct a team of landscape services staff in a safe manner, assuring policies and procedures are being met;
- Provide direction in the Director’s absence.

Qualifications:
- College degree in horticulture or related field is required;
- Minimum two years experience in care and maintenance of similar facilities, or any combination of education, training, or experience;
- Supervisory experience preferred;
- Excellent communication skills required;
- Must posses and maintain a valid driver’s license;
- Must be able to work under limited supervision and work in all types of weather;
- Must be able to lift up to 80-100 lbs.

Summary: Kauai Fresh Farms, a privately owned hydroponic farm and company located on the island of Kauai, HI, has a position opening for a General Manager—Horticulture/Hydroponic Specialist to manage, with full responsibility and authority four large state-of-the-art greenhouses growing tomatoes and lettuce. Produce is sold locally. Customers include local grocery stores, chain grocery stores, big hotels including the Kauai Sheraton and Marriott’s, and local restaurants. A period of training with the current manager, who must leave due to personal issues, is available.

Duties:
- Would be responsible for overseeing installation of 100 acres of ornamental tropical nursery crops and a couple acres of asparagus plants (nursery and asparagus are non-hydroponic);
- Would be responsible for health and maintenance of plants, management of employee tasks and schedules, harvesting schedules and allocation to customers, and communication with customers (grocery stores, restaurants, and hotels).

Qualifications:
- Masters degree in horticulture;
- Advanced knowledge of hydroponic systems is required, and experience in management is preferred.

Yeamans Hall Club—Horticulturist

Summary: Yeamans Hall Club, located in Charleston, SC, has a position opening for Horticulturist in the Grounds Department.

Duties:
- Landscaping duties in homeowners’ yards and throughout property surrounding golf course, grounds maintenance, and invasive plant species removal;
- General monitoring of yards and other landscaped areas (clubhouse, cottages): mow grass, trim shrubs and trees, and applies pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizer under the supervision of the grounds manager;
- Inspects yards before homeowner arrival and performs any necessary tasks;
- Performs yard duties on request by grounds manager or homeowners;
- Monitors irrigation clocks and heads throughout the year;
- Repairs equipment associated with irrigation;
- Work with grounds maintenance crew when needed (ex. mulching and over seeding yards);
- Safely operates equipment such as mowers and tractors for various grounds needs;
- Assists Grounds Manger when necessary;
- Works with grounds manager and homeowners to design, plant, and maintain outdoor beds;
- Assist in greenhouse plant care and propagation.

Qualifications:
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of horticultural principles and practices;
- Must have Comprehensive knowledge of trees, flowers, shrubs, turf, cultivation, pruning and other aspects of plant propagation and care, including the use of common insecticides, fungicides and fertilizers;
- Must have knowledge of insects, parasites and diseases which attack trees, shrubs, flowers and grass and of the chemical and biological methodologies for controlling such attacks;
- Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions;
- Must have a valid drivers license and pesticide license;
- Must have the ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge;
- It is normal club policy to administer background checks and drug tests.

North Carolina Arboretum—Temporary Gardener

Summary: The North Carolina Arboretum, located at the University of North Carolina in Asheville, NC, has a position opening for a Temporary Gardener. This is a seasonal temporary position working with The North Carolina Arboretum Gardens Crew. This position will focus on both container and in-ground seasonal garden displays.

Duties:
- Include watering, grooming, fertilization and weeding of garden displays;
- General garden duties such as mulching, pruning, litter removal and insect and disease control will be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:
- Completion of high school or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Prior public or commercial gardening experience preferred;
- This is a hands-on position requiring a high level of physical effort. Tasks will frequently call for climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking and hearing, and repetitive motion;
- Must be expected to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects;
- Must have visual acuity sufficient to operate machines, motor vehicles, and heavy equipment; and to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
