WHO WE ARE

UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

The British Council, founded in 1934, is the United Kingdom's international cultural relations organization.  We currently operate in 109 countries and territories.

British Council Taipei was established in 1996 in Taiwan, and operated under the name of "British Council" following an agreement with Taiwan in September 2001.

Our purpose is to build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and Taiwan and to increase Taiwanese’ appreciation of the UK’s creative ideas and achievements.

In Taiwan, the work of the British Council includes teaching English; providing the latest information about studying in the UK; promoting British education and training; and demonstrating the innovation, creativity and excellence of British science, arts, literature and design.

The United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
