26 and 27 November 2011 visiting “Spartak” fans will play with “Westham” and “Wimbledon” fans. The games are organised by “Spartak-Moscow” football club, the official red-white fan club and the British Council.
These matches have been organised as part of the Football Unites project of the British Council, a celebration of football and the friendships created through sport between Russia and the UK.

The matches in London are the result of a long-term partnership between the British Council and the “Spartak-Moscow” Football Union. In the frames of the “Football Unites” programme the red-white fan club has already played with the “Manchester United” fan club, “Tottenham” and “Chelsea” fan clubs. In 2010 with the support of the British Council and “Spartak” Dmitry Alenichev participated in the ceremony of laying flowers to the Soviet military memorial of the Imperial Military Museum and led a training session for the Langford Primary School students. As part of the visit he has also met with the schoolchildren engaged in the “Chelsea” educational programme at Stamford Bridge stadium.
The first ever visiting match “Spartak” fans, also known as “VV-Moscow”, played in 2001 with the fans of London “Arsenal”. “Spartak” fans scored 7:0.
In 2002, a year and a half after, “Spartak” fans again visited London to play with “Charlton Athletics” fans and again scored 8:1!
“Manchester United” and “Chelsea” met in 2008 during the Champion’s League final in Moscow. On the same day the “Spartak - Moscow” football club, the official football club and the British Council organised a match between the red-white and “MU” fans at the “Spartak” stadium.
The fans have put in much effort but Spartak fans were leading 3:1. This game has become a benchmark in the international history of the fans’ team.
In 2008 during the Euro league qualifiers “Spartak” played against “Tottenham” and the winner has already been defined by the clubs’ fan match – 8:2.
In 2010 in London “Spartak” fans also scored over “Chelsea” fan team – 3:1.
From 2001 – 2010 “Spartak” fans haven’t lost a game to British fan football clubs and are now travelling to London with the hope to stick on to this tradition.
