HSBC/ British Council Scholarship 2009/2010    

For field leader who will use the scholarship to influence positive change in Georgia.

This award is offered by HSBC and administered by British Council. The full scholarship covers tuition, travel, accommodation and living expenses in Britain up to 12 months and is awarded on a competitive basis for Master's degree programme in one of these fields:

Education   
Environment   

Qualifications

Applicants

Should be citizens of Georgia and should reside in Georgia at the time of applying.    
Should have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience related to the chosen field of study    
Should be established in a career, with a track record of excellence and achievement    
Should be graduates with an excellent academic record    
Should be between 25-35   
Have excellent English language skills   
Should be committed to returning to Georgia after their studies in the UK    
Should have a clear idea how their training can contribute to the democratic development of the Georgian state    

How to Apply

All applicants must complete and submit  the official HSBC/British Council application form to the British Council office at 34 Rustaveli avenue.    
Only shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide references from the referees before the attendance at interview (not more than 6 months old). They will also be required to bring copies of diplomas and transcripts of marks, plus notary-certified translations, if relevant.    
Applications will be received from 10:00 of 6 November to 17:00 of 30 November 2008    

NB: We encourage applicants to submit applications in plenty of time before the deadline.

Selection Process

Application forms will be reviewed and a list of semi-finalists will be drawn up by 10 December 2008. (Incomplete forms will not be considered; it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that the application is complete). Shortlisted candidates will take a formal English Language test – IELTS on 13 December 2008.

Candidates who achieve the required IELTS score of 6.5 will be invited for interview in mid January 2008. Candidates must be available for interview in Tbilisi.

The final result will be announced in February 2009. The decision of the selection committee will be final.

Open days for all interested potential HSBC/British Council candidates will be held on Thursdays, 13, 20, 27 November 2008 at 11.00 at the British Council Georgia office.
