Our audiences

Access our worldwide network

Sponsorship of our many activities provides unique opportunities to reach your target audiences.

Our events reach millions of people every year and offer you the chance to communicate with a wide variety of people in the UK and overseas either face-to-face or through web-based technologies and the media.

Our audiences include:

high level decision makers and leaders
professional communities, policy shapers and implementers
young opinion formers and the 'successor generation'
wider groups of publics.

We connect with our audiences in a wide variety of ways, both in the UK and overseas. We reach groups through our offices, libraries, information centres, teaching centres, events, seminars, outreach work, and project work. We also reach a global audience through our promotion of UK education and by working in partnership with other organisations.

In 2002-03 we:

administered over 1 million professional and academic exams
issued 5 million books and videos to 250,000 British Council library members
dealt with 2 million enquiries and welcomed 7 million visitors
helped more than 15,000 young people take part in international projects.
arranged work placements in and study visits to 30 European countries for 3,000 learners and 500 trainers from the UK
collaborated in 1,900 arts events globally, a quarter of which went on to reach a wider public on radio and television
