Climate Generation 2010

Seven Champions from Uzbekistan are going to attend the regional training, which will be organized by British Council in Nepal, 20-24 September, 2010.  During the course of this training our delegates will learn about how to provide detailed information on climate change, what tools they can use to work in the communities, how to take the ownership of the sharing platforms (i.e. web, facebook, blogs) where they can exchange news and experiences.

The Climate Generation project is a global British Council programme which is delivered through a network of Climate Champions across 60 countries in the world. Climate Generation engages young people with a proactive interest in climate change and wish to take positive action at local, national and international levels.

This year we have recruited 15 new Champions who are implementing their social projects on climate change issues:

Bakhtiyor Inogomov

TV programme "Ecopoytakht"- the aim of the programme is to rise awareness of climate change issues, and to show what is happening in Uzbekistan and in the whole world; as well as what people can do to tackle this issue.

Kamola Ermatova

Ecoconcert in Fergana valley - to organise a concert for youth in the region of Uzbekistan where local singers will be invited and where the activities on climate change issues will be organised.

Sherzod Ahmatov

Workshop for journalists - this is a programme for local journalists working in the regions of Uzbekistan to help them develop their knowledge of climate change issues so that they can give proper information via mass media.

Akmal Ahmedov

Production of social videos - this is a competition among advert agencies and all interested bodies to produce social advertisement on climate change issues. The winner will have a change to put the advert on billboards in the city.   

Araksya Manucharova

Radio eco journal - to produce a series of radio programmes at Tashkent radio channel on climate change issues.

Bahriddin Shayvaliev

Eco exhibition - this programme is for school pupils who will participate at the competition of the group presentations on CC problems and what actions to take to tackle this issue.

Elyor Rahmanov

Social media project - to organise and carry out a contest on youth-led social media project on climate change for students of Westminster University, University of World Economy and Diplomacy and activists of Centre of Youth Initiatives “Kelajak ovozi”.

Jasur Azimov

Comics for children - to produce a series of comics for children which will be published in the appendix «Young ecologist» of the “Herald of Ecology” magazine.

Ksana Korolyova

Sunvikt centre/ disadvantaged children- to organise activities for rising awareness of children at the centre for disadvantaged children.

Rano Khamidova

Flyers printing - to develop the design and polygraphic printing of original pamphlets, containing elementary tips for inhabitants to use precious resources used in everyday life – water, natural gas, electricity more rationally. To reinforce effect, the tips will focus on monetary benefits.

Tanzilya Mukhamedjanova

Photo exhibition - to organise photo exhibition on CC issues.

Umid Inagamjanov

Website - to create a website on climate change issues.

Zamira Ziyavitdinova

Cinema hall - to show films and movies on climate change issues and organise debates afterwards. This project is taking place in Surhadarya region of Uzbekistan Termez city.

Firdavs Navruzov

Bags - to design and produce rag bags in Bukhara region, which will be distributed among big supermarkets of the city, and rise awareness.

Shahlo Rajabova

Summer camp in Navoi region - to organise activities on rising awareness in the summer camp for children.
