British Council USA

Find out why the UK continues to be the top study abroad destination for Americans.

More than 40,000 US students chose to spend a summer, semester or year of college in England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland last year.

Sports and the Outdoors

From cricket and rugby to football and golf, playing a sport in the UK is quite popular for a university student: one in four students play on a university team. If a competitive team isn’t for you, you can also learn a new sport, play for fun on university intramural teams or in participate in leagues in nearby towns.
