"The thing that made me make music was hip hop which has its own tradition and history and has gone from being a subculture to being mainstream culture…
The ones making the most interesting music are just not getting heard. It’s become more about personalities than the music. It’s got a bit too follow fashion, everyone wants to be a gangster…what happened to the soul?... This is a project about doing whatever music inspires you and not conforming to a playlist bracket."
ABOUT DOBIE

Based in East London, Dobie first started making music when he was in college in the 1980s. He worked with the legendary Soul II Soul on their first two albums, earning respect as a producer, remixer and DJ. His first album, The Sound of One Hand Clapping, was recently re-released on the BBE label. Dobie has since partnered with BBE records to establish his own label and imprint, Magnificent 7.
