How We Work
Our main goal is to develop long-term relationships between the UK and the US. Through our arts work we aim to refresh perceptions of the UK and provide an accurate, up-to-date picture of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales today. We share the UK's most dynamic creative output with the US by providing advice and information, and by facilitating partnerships between US organizations and UK artists. The British Council is not a funding organization in the traditional sense. Instead, we use our resources to create long-term partnerships between US presenters and curators and UK artists. We connect the UK and US arts scenes by offering advice, information, and opportunities to see and hear new British work.

We work to create lasting relationships between UK and US arts communities, and focus our efforts on seeding new partnerships by working primarily with US arts organizations. Although we are approached with many exciting ideas for projects, we are only able to collaborate on a limited number of partnerships each year. Please note that we work at least a year in advance on our partnerships to maximize our impact. We work across art forms on distinctive events that engage young adult audiences in the US. We aim to work on projects where we can add value through our involvement.
