TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) is a test of professional knowledge for English language teachers. It focuses on different teaching methods, lesson planning, resources and classroom management. It is suitable for teachers of primary and secondary schools as well as those who teach adult English courses. After taking TKT, teachers can progress to other Cambridge teaching awards ( CELTA or ICELT). The test is also suitable for people who would like to teach English but do not yet have a teaching position.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, anyone wishing to take TKT is strongly advised to have at least an intermediate level of English — level B1 of the CEF, eg. PET, IELTS band score of 4.
What does TKT consist of?
TKT has three modules which can be taken either at the same time or separately, in any order. Each module includes 80 questions and lasts 1 hour 20 minutes.
Module 1How to register
There are no fixed dates for TKT. Entries should be made no later than 6 weeks before the examination week. The minimum entry is 10 candidates. Exam fee is 380.00 UAH.
