The Education UK brand is owned by the Department for Innovation, Universites and Skills (DIUS) on behalf of the UK government and is managed by the British Council in perpetuity. We are given clear guidelines from the government about the way it is to be managed. Our UK and overseas network has influence and experience in education marketing to the target audiences, therefore we can adapt these guidelines at our discretion.
We do not own the brand and it is not a sub-brand of the British Council, however we have adopted the brand as an intrinsic part of our global activity. Its values have enormous resonance with our education work, which is at the very core of our remit. The Education UK brand is a global product in the truest sense.
We report to government stakeholders on the delivery of brand and related campaigns as part of the work we do for the Prime Minister’s Initiative.
While the Education UK brand has been designed to work effectively on communications to a wide range of people worldwide.
Any British Council centre that wants to use the Education UK brand needs to follow the brand guidelines. They must identify a contact who has the responsibility for ensuring the brand is accurately applied in terms of visuals and message. Training workshops in the UK and around the world will be held regularly and these will be posted on the brand web space, where colleagues in the British Council can also access information on the brand, download artwork and find further resources.
The majority of Education UK brand communications are delivered through British Council operations globally. The British Council’s network of centres, and its production of print and web communications, education events, information services and activities, as well as its marketing and communications expertise, all provide a great springboard for the Education UK brand.Open the original version of this page.
