A Journey towards an Information Society: Social Aspects of E-transformation

Period: March 2005 - September 2005
Aim: To support the progress of e-governance and information society works in Turkey through finding solutions to the identified needs and problems in this area with UK support and expertise considering social aspects of e-transformation

Cultural Differences; Children at Risk

Project Period: April 2004 - March 2005
Aim: To examine the current situation of specific groups with cultural differences with a focus on child issues and convey recommendations

EU Diversity Conference

Project Period: February 2004
Aim: To raise awareness among young professionals from the UK, Turkey and other EU candidate and member countries on issues of diversity in the construction of an integrated Europe

Freedom of Association and the Law on Associations within the Process of EU Accession

Project Period: October 2003 - December 2004
Aim: To promote open debate about freedom of association in Turkey and the new Law on Associations with the participation of state officials and civil society representatives

Disability Rights Study Visit

Project Period: June – July 2003
Aim: To build capacity within the Turkish authorities regarding disability rights developments in the UK in order to support the efforts on introducing a disability act in Turkey

Conference on Rule of Law
Project Period: November 2000
Aim: To raise awareness and stimulate public debate about the rule of law and government accountability towards the public through a high profile conference attended by state representatives, academics, bar associations, NGOs and journalists

An Inter-agency Approach to the Prevention of Torture

Project Period: October 2000 - June 2001
Aim: To encourage an inter-agency approach to the prevention of torture by promoting networking between NGOs, lawyers, medical professionals and to examine practical measures for the prevention of torture

Networking Between Human Rights NGOS

Project Period: March 2000 - May 2001
Aim: To produce a directory of NGOs as an information tool to promote networking between NGOs working in the human rights field

Prison Management Feasibility Study

Project Period: November 1999 - September 2000
Aim: To make an assessment of the current situation in Turkish prisons, to begin a process of prioritising organisational and management needs of the Turkish prison service, and to assist the Ministry of Justice in implementation of its national penal reform programme

Children's Legal Rights

Project Period: October 1999 - June 2000
Aim: To raise the level of debate and knowledge about children's rights in Turkey through working with stakeholders to re-examine policies, practices and to assess the feasibility of setting up a Child Right's Centre

An Inter-Agency Approach to the Prevention of Domestic Violence

Project Period: September 1998 - December 1999
Aim: To raise awareness of domestic violence among police officers, forensic medicine experts and lawyers, to facilitate better co-ordination between these groups and to improve methods of investigation and support

Research on Provision of Legal Advice to Vulnerable Groups

Project Period: September 1998 - June 1999
Aim: To examine the level of legal advice provided for disadvantaged groups, especially the poor and women, and to produce an information booklet
