John Whitehead is the new Country Director of the British Council Thailand. With extensive experience for the British Council, he is a specialist in English language and Education. Prior to coming to Thailand, he was the London-based Director of English Language, responsible for the policy and strategic framework of the British Council’s global activity in English. Some of his notable achievements include the development phase of English for the World, a suite of global products for learners and teachers, a client-funded Peacekeeping Project in 27 countries, and Accreditation UK, the accreditation scheme for 400 UK providers.
John has worked with the British Council for more than 18 years, which has seen him working in different countries such as Colombia, Poland and Tunisia. He also was a lecturer in Education at the University of Manchester from 1984-1989.
He speaks French, German and Spanish.
