What is a Chevening Scholarship?
The British Chevening Scholarships, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, are prestigious awards enabling overseas students to study in the United Kingdom. The scholarships are offered in more than 150 countries and give talented graduates and young professional the opportunity to become familiar with the UK and gain skills which will benefit their countries.

The British Embassy invites applications for its Chevening Scholarships for 2012-2013
These awards offer the study in the United Kingdom for Syrians who have the potential to develop into future leaders, decision makers and opinion formers.
Applicants must:
• be Syrian or Syrian/Palestinian: they are expected to return to Syria on completion of their studies
• be university graduates with several years’ work experience
• have excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
The Embassy will give priority to candidates whose proposed fields of study are relevant to Syria’s economic, social or technological development.
Relevant fields might include :
• Economics • Business • Law • Political Science • Banking • Public Administration • Human Rights • Humanitarian Issues • International Relations • Education Management • Community Development.
